If you’re intent on a quick stop en route to the nearby Parliament House or the sprawling Gandhi Smriti, the site is passable for a photo‑op of the scarred façade, but don’t expect the immersive dioramas, the impressive mineral gallery or the erstwhile 30‑metre “Earth’s Evolution” walk‑through that once made it worth a half‑day. The only redeeming feature is the small temporary exhibition space that occasionally hosts governmental environmental displays—check the Ministry of Environment’s calendar before you go, as these pop‑ups are the sole reason to linger. For genuine natural‑history thrills, head instead to the Indian Museum in Kolkata or the Natural History Museum in Mumbai; Delhi’s NMNH is now more a cautionary footnote than a destination, and a two‑hour detour is all the honest time you’ll need.
