Curator's note

The Sunehri Masjid sits like a gilded afterthought on the edge of the Red Fort’s Delhi Gate, a bright‑copper flash that most tourists miss while snapping the fort’s ramparts. Slip through the bustling lanes of Chandni Chowk after a chai at Paranthe Wali Gali and you’ll find the mosque tucked opposite Netaji Subhash Park, its onion‑dome catching the low‑sunlight at about 14:00—perfect for a quick photo before the crowd thickens. The interior is modest: three arches, plain white plaster, and a single chandelier that does little to disguise the fact that it was built in 1721 by a Mughal noble rather than a royal architect. It’s worth a brief stop if you’re already mapping the Red Fort circuit, but don’t linger; the prayer schedule means it’s closed to non‑muslims from 12:00 to 14:00, and the surrounding market is louder than the chants. Skip the souvenir stalls outside the gate and head straight for the adjacent Jama Masjid if you need a larger, more atmospheric space. Early morning or late afternoon, rain‑free November to February, is the only time the mosque’s golden façade actually shines.
