7-day itinerary · North

Golden Triangle · 7 days · Delhi → Agra → Jaipur

The classic first-time India loop, done properly — not in three days.

Delhi + Agra + Jaipur is the standard week for a first India trip. Three days is the tourist-brochure version. Seven lets you fold in a Fatehpur Sikri afternoon, a Pushkar bolt-on, and the sunrise Taj you'd otherwise sleep through.

Best seasonNov – Mar
Length7 days
Budget£1,800–£2,500 pp exc. flights (mid-tier hotels, private driver, guides on 3 of 7 days).

Day by day

  1. DAY 01
    Delhi
    Old Delhi day

Land, sleep the jetlag off, then an afternoon rickshaw through Chandni Chowk to Jama Masjid. Dinner at Karim's — the mutton burra ranks.

  2. DAY 02
    Delhi
    Mughal + Lutyens spine

Red Fort at opening, Humayun's Tomb before the light hardens, Qutub Minar late afternoon. India Gate at dusk, Khan Market for dinner.

  3. DAY 03
    Agra
    Delhi → Agra by train

Gatimaan Express (~2 hours). Afternoon at Agra Fort — quieter than the Taj, better light for photos. Early night.

  4. DAY 04
    Agra
Taj Mahal sunrise + Fatehpur Sikri

First-slot Taj (~5:30 am gate). Come back for breakfast. Drive to Fatehpur Sikri for lunch + half a day at the abandoned Mughal city.

  5. DAY 05
    Jaipur
    Agra → Jaipur

Drive (5 hours) or train. Late-afternoon Hawa Mahal walk. Dinner at Bar Palladio in Narain Niwas.

  6. DAY 06
    Jaipur
    Amber Fort + City Palace

Amber Fort at opening, City Palace and Jantar Mantar after lunch. Bazaar-stroll in Johari + Bapu Bazaar for block-print + jewellery.

  7. DAY 07
    Jaipur
    Buffer + fly home

Nahargarh sunrise if you're inclined, otherwise a slow morning. Fly Jaipur → home.
