Breakfast is a decent spread of masala dosa, poha and freshly churned lassi, but skip the continental buffet after 9 am – the chefs clearly lose enthusiasm once the first batch of chai is poured. The on‑site yoga pavilion is noisy with tourists, so anyone looking for a genuine practice should walk 15 minutes upstream to the ashram at Shivpuri or, better yet, join the sunrise session at the nearby Parmarth Niketan. The pool, newly tiled, is clean but the water is constantly churned by the river’s breeze, making it impossible to relax after a hot day of rafting. Wi‑Fi works in the lobby but sputters in the rooms, so plan any work‑need around the café’s modest but reliable connection. Late‑summer monsoons (July‑August) turn the surrounding hills into a soggy mess and make the riverside walkways slippery; the sweet spot is October to early December when the air is crisp, the Ganga is still, and the hotel’s heritage charm feels deliberately nostalgic rather than forced.
