Early autumn (late September to early November) is the only sensible window: the monsoon has drained, the pines are turning amber, and the crowds that descend for the Kashmir Trek fest have yet to arrive. Book a Deluxe King over the standard; the extra 2 metres of floor space lets you stretch out after a day of river‑rafting on the Lidder. If you can tolerate the occasional creak and the thin wifi, the lodge’s old‑world charm and riverside location make it a surprisingly solid base for the surrounding peaks.
