Jehan Numa is not a resort, it’s a 30‑room, family‑run house perched on the fringe of Agatti’s coral fringe, and you’ll feel the difference the second you step off the ferry. Arrive in the early morning (the 06:30 boat from Kavaratti is the only reliable one) and ask for a sea‑view room on the east side; the sunrise over the lagoon drags the tide out and the light on the water is worth the cramped bathroom. The only restaurant is a single kitchen that serves filter coffee and thali‑style seafood at 13:00‑15:00 – skip the lunch rush and you’ll get a plate of masala prawns that actually taste of the sea. The on‑site “granite temple” is a tiny 19th‑century shrine built by a retired captain; it’s worth a silent minute, but don’t expect any guided history. Spend your afternoons strolling the palm‑lined shore, then drift back to the sun‑bleached verandah for a coconut water at sunset – the view of the atoll’s rim is unbeatable, but the Wi‑Fi sputters at best, so leave work behind. Visit late November to early March; the monsoon will turn the lagoon into a churning mess and the house closes for repairs in May‑June. Two nights is honest, three lets you snorkel the house reef without the crowds.
