Trident Bangalore Resort

Resort in Bangalore. Granite temples, palm fringes and filter coffee.

Why we picked it

Trident Bangalore feels less like a city hotel and more like a suburban retreat for the weary tech‑executive, set on a manicured 6‑acre campus off HSR Layout’s Main Road where the only traffic you tolerate is the early‑morning joggers. Arrive after the 10 am rush and claim a corner table on the glass‑front “Vines” bar; the view over the palm‑lined lagoon is marginally better than a window seat at any downtown brunch spot, and the house filter coffee—served in a stainless steel tumbler rather than a chipped porcelain mug—actually tastes like the real thing. The pool, surrounded by granite pavers that echo the temple‑stone of nearby Gavi Temple, is respectable but crowded from 11 am to 2 pm, so a sunrise dip (5.30‑6 am) is the only way to enjoy it without fending off a gaggle of conference‑goers. Dine at “The Conservatory” at 7 pm for the tandoori pomfret; the dish is decent but the over‑cheesy paneer tikka is a tourist‑aimed filler you can easily skip for the more honest spinach and corn bhurji. The spa, despite its leafy façade, offers a half‑hour “organic” massage that feels rushed; better to book the full 90‑minute Ayurvedic protocol if you truly need to unwind. Rooms are comfortably sized, but the air‑conditioning is temperamental in March‑May, so a late‑summer stay is advisable only if you enjoy an extra $30 nightly surcharge for a portable fan. The only real drawback is the distance to the city’s culinary pulse—Mrs. Rasika’s biryani in Jayanagar is a 30‑minute drive, so plan a Sunday lunch at the on‑site “Terrace Café” instead of hunting for street‑food authenticity. Two nights is honest if you want a buffer before heading back to the silicon corridors; four lets you savor the hotel’s quiet lake walk at dusk, which, despite the curated landscaping, is genuinely soothing.
